FAQ'S

Q: What is Reiki?

A:  Reiki comes from the Japanese term “Shin Shin Kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho” which translates to “Usui Reiki Treatment Method for Improvement of Mind and Body.” Reiki practitioners use their hands to heal clients by laying their hands on the body. Practitioners are conduits of the life force energy “ki” and are able to pass this through their hands to their clients to bring the mind and body into balance and harmony.

Q: What should I expect from a Reiki treatment?

A: A general Reiki treatment can last anywhere from 60-90 minutes depending on the reason for treatment. After a short consultation, depending on your condition, you will lie down on a treatment bed (fully clothed), or sit on a chair. You can use this time to relax and unwind. The session usually begins with the practitioner placing her hands gently on your head, feet or abdomen.

Q: What makes Jikiden Reiki different from other forms of Reiki

A: Jikiden Reiki translates to “directly taught” and passed down from Makao Usui Sensei to Dr. Chujiro Hayashi to Mrs. Chiyoko Yamaguchi to her son Tadao Yamaguchi. Jikiden Reiki is an authentic method of healing. There is nothing religiously based or influenced about the treatment; therefore it doesn’t limit itself to any one theological belief.

Jikiden Reiki practitioners lay hands on the client, in a non-formulaic manner to feel for the detection of Boysen in the body. Boysen is an accumulation of toxins in the body that can disturb the flow of energy and fluids, if left untreated. A practitioner can sense the Boysen by various sensations felt in the hand, such as heat, tingling, or numbness. Based on the frequency and intensity of the Boysen, a Jikiden Reiki practitioner can sense the severity and locale of the client’s dis-ease and determine if treatment should continue or if health has been restored.

Q: Do I need to come for regular treatment or is it okay to come for just one treatment?

A: Depending on why you are seeking Reiki, some find that 1-3 sessions are enough to help with minor aliment, while others need longer treatment. Many clients enjoy coming for Reiki for the therapeutic and relaxing aspect of balancing the body and mind.

Q: What should I do following a treatment?

A: After your treatment, you will be offered some water and we will discuss how you are feeling. As Reiki works to unblock areas of stress and discomfort, you may feel a sense of peacefulness and calmness, such as you would feel after receiving a massage or spa treatment. It is best to enjoy a restful day after treatment; however, if you are unable to rest after treatment, that is fine. Receiving Reiki energy will in no way hinder your ability to function as normal.

Q: What is the massage that is done at the end of the treatment?

A: Ketsueki Kokan Ho (Kekko) is a light massage that is done at the end of a treatment to release any blockages and Boysen. This traditional technique is excellent for the circulatory system. Many clients especially enjoy receiving Kekko and find that they feel energized after a Kekko treatment.

Physical and Psychological Relief

"Great experience and amazing sensations! Having a reiki treatment with Rien is emotionally very helpful. It provides physical and psychological relief. On my first treatment, I was curious about what reiki was and I had no specific expectations, but then, I was so amazed by the results. I can only advise everyone to go for it. You won't be disappointed."

Exactly What I Needed

I've had Reiki from Rien twice so far and it has given me exactly what I needed each time! As a Reiki Master, I sometimes need to refresh and cleanse my energy which is why I approached Rien for the treatment. Combined with music and blessings in a scared space, it was lovely!

A Very Relaxing Experience

"I asked Rien for a treatment because I needed to do something good for myself. I needed a break from my busy schedule with children and work. During the treatment I managed to unwind and I became very relaxed. I could feel the sensation of the energy. Afterwards, she told me what she felt and it completely made sense to me. A very relaxing experience. Ideally I would have a session every month because of how good it makes me feel."
